¿Qué tiene de especial la serigrafía de nuestras sudaderas?

What's special about the screen printing on our sweatshirts?

The screen printing on our sweatshirts is sustainable.

Putting a drawing on a garment is not an easy decision.

Once you have the design, you have to choose how to transfer it to the fabric.

There are many printing techniques, some more expensive than others, more or less polluting, with limitations depending on the type of fabric...

And there we were, wanting to choose something that was consistent with our Mukhee world and what we offer.

And our choice was, without a doubt, SCREEN PRINTING.

Manual technique (generates employment), ecological (does not pollute, free of toxins and plastics), made in Spain (in Badajoz, in this case) and with a very high quality result (very soft, resistant and without a plastic feel).

As a shopper, it's often very difficult to discern these details. But that's why we're here: to tell you about them and share this information, which we believe is of great value to everyone.

What is screen printing?

Screen printing is an ancient graphic technique that is used to play images through a template on all kinds of objects and flat, absorbent surfaces.

Why screen printing vs. other types of printing?

  • Screen printing is a highly precise and defined craft.
  • It has a great chromatic quality, perfect for colorful designs.
  • It has very good fixation on the tissues.
  • The touch is super soft.
  • It has great resistance to wear.

And what's sustainable about it?

Eco-friendly water-based inks are used

We chose to use eco-friendly water-based inks, the most environmentally friendly, for several reasons.

  • Water-based inks do not contain heavy metals, PVC or phthalates. (zero microplastics) .
  • The pigments in these are of mineral and plant origin and are not tested on animals, making them a vegan option.
  • And they don't require solvents to clean them.

Reusable molds are used

In addition, reusable molds called " screens " are used for screen printing. These can last for many years and can be used to produce thousands of copies. reducing waste generation compared to other techniques.

It is carried out in an artisanal and responsible workshop

We chose the only workshop that adheres to the Sustainable Fashion Association of Spain , dedicated exclusively to screen printing with water-based inks on ethical products. It is also Located in Spain, specifically in Badajoz , something very important for us because we want to promote the development of the industry that has been so lost.

In addition, in this workshop they reproduce screen printing ONLY on products with ethical certificates: fair trade, organic cottons, vegan clothing, and cardboard and paper from sustainable forests.

If you want to take a look at the result, I'll leave it here. here is the link to our famous sweatshirts.

I hope you found it at least a little interesting.

Learning all this helped me, among other things, to differentiate one garment from another and what they were made of. And although sometimes I feel like I'm unlearning as I learn, I know I'm taking small steps toward something better.

I'm sharing what I know with you, in case it can help you clarify any doubts.

Good day!
